   Hi…I am not familiar with the term ride plate? Gelcoat should not be applied more than 3/32″ thick, If the product is fiberglass and gouged deep it should be ground and fiberglass laminated to avoid a reoccuring damage then fared in with marine filler to reach it’s perfect shape.

   i blew a 1 foot section of the lip that the ride plate seals up to.can i use gelcoat to build that lip or should i use something else?
